That idea has all but disappeared - I’ve reached the point to where I mentally view the iPad and the back case as one item. Initially, I thought I wouldn’t be happy with any keyboard, unless I was able to remove it when I wanted to use the device like an iPad. I don’t know what makes this black material so attractive to me - but it is! It always looks new and clean - not old and worn. I LOVE the hard-vinyl, waterproof, bulletproof-feel of the textured material on the front of the keyboard. The backlit keys works great in low-light settings. This is more important than first realized!Īs for functionality, the keys respond very well to typing - which is the main reason for having a keyboard in the first place! However, this required removing three items from the backpack. I sometimes used an Apple Magic keyboard, and a compact Anchor stand, to setup for light typing.I stressed the idea of lightest weight possible. A leather front cover protected the device when it was stored in my backpack but that cover was always removed when using the device. From the very first day I owned the 12.9” iPad Pro, I used the device naked - no case at all. ![]()
