![]() I think people focus way too much on what the app GUI looks like. ![]() To be honest the only time I even notice WinRAR is in use is when it's extracting (and even then it's just the Taskbar or Tray icon), I rarely if ever actually open the main application I perform all the necessary functions with a right-click on selected items, either extracting them to a folder based on the filename or creating an archive of the same files. I paid for WinZip way back at v1.0 and that license is still valid as well but, WinRAR is better for me. Manage and password-protect files, check their integrity, scan them for viruses, select a compression method and file update mode, etc. ![]() Process RAR, ZIP, CAB, 7-ZIP, TAR and other archives. Took 10 minutes tops for the whole thing, didn't cost me a cent, and I got a second WinRAR registration license for my Wife. I don't know a single person that does, actually, and I've never had anyone I know offer me an archive in 7Zip format either. Usenet content is all RAR all the time so.ħZip might offer slightly better compression overall (in some instances it's very high, in others it's even less) but, in the long run, WinRAR does absolutely everything I require and I have zero reason to use 7Zip for anything. I very rarely ever see actual 7Zip archives RAR rules the world I live in, one could say. ![]()
